Daniel E. Miller
Dan(o)

Dan(o) is a United States Marine Corps combat veteran, Scout Dog handler in the Republic of Viet Nam. A veteran of 35 years Law Enforcement experience, both local and state. Dan(o) retired a Special Agent from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Dan(o) served as the Team Leader on the FDLE's Counter Terrorist Team throughout the Team's existence as well as the Assistant Team Commander with the Polk County, Florida, Sheriff's Office Emergency Response Team. Dan(o) has been responsible for designing and implementing various training programs in SWAT, Officer Survivor and numerous other Defensive Tactics Courses worldwide. Recipient of the Commissioner's Award in the State of Florida upon developing the Officer Survival School for FDLE's Special Agents.

Dan(o) served with the International Police Task Force in the Balkans as liaison to the United States Department of Justice for implementation of all high-risk training. Designed and implemented a hand chosen Support Unit in Defensive Tactics/Officer Survival for the first existing 'SWAT TEAM' throughout the country of Bosnia.

Dan(o) is currently an original Core Instructor for the United States Department of State, Anti Terrorism Assistance Program teaching in the Officer Survival course, Counter-Terrorism Crisis Response Team course and Rural Border Op’s course that conducts training for Foreign Law Enforcement Officers and Special Military Units.

Dan(o) was also called upon immediately after September 11, 2001, to assist in the coordination and implementation of the current and on going Federal Air Marshall’s Firearms Course.

Dan(o) is certified as an Instructor in: Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Officer Survival, Booby-Traps, SWAT and numerous other high-risk areas, as well as a Charter member of the Florida SWAT Association, Vietnam Veteran's Dog Handler Association, Marine Corps League.


 

Joe Martel

A veteran of 35 years Law Enforcement, both state and local, Joe recently retired as a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Joe served as an original Operator on the full-time FDLE Counter Terrorist Team throughout the team's existence, serving as an Operational Sniper and Entry Penetrator. Joe went on to serve on the Miami Region Special Operations Team variously as Team Leader, Operational Sniper, Entry Penetrator and Team Trainer.

Joe is currently a Core Instructor as well as a Primary Specialty Instructor with the United States Department of State, Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program teaching Counter-Terrorism Crisis Response Team courses to Foreign Law Enforcement and Special Military Units.

Joe is the current Southern Regional Director for the National Tactical Officers Association, as well as the Immediate Past President of the Florida SWAT Association, having served two terms as President and four terms as Vice President. Joe is a member of both the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors and American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers. Joe served as Chief Instructor for the most recent series of Manhunt Tactical Training Exercises at the previous venue.

Joe is a CJSTC Certified General Subjects as well as Special Subjects Instructor for Firearms, Defensive Tactics and Emergency Medical Procedures. Joe is certified to teach and has instructed: Firearms (Handgun/Shotgun/Subgun/Carbine/Sniper), SWAT Tactics/Subjects, Advanced Tactical Management, Rappel Master, Fast Rope, Explosive Breaching, Booby-Traps, Map/Compass Orienteering, Man tracking, Rural Operations, Waterborne Operations, First Responder, CPR, Officer Survival, Less Lethal (Impact) Munitions, Chemical Agents, Distraction Devices, Defensive Tactics and Protective Operations.


David G. McCall
(Dave)

Dave is a veteran of 23 years with the United States Army Special Forces in the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 10th Special Forces Groups as well as a combat veteran of Viet Nam, Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Kuwait City. Dave retired at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer.

Dave established "King's Security International, Inc." and "McCall Technology, Inc." Dave has vast experience as an Military Instructor in the fields of: Communications, Special Operations, Close Quarter Combat, Air Operations, Command and Control, Electronic Surveillance and Bomb Recognition, JFK Special Warfare Center, and Mountain Training. Dave is a graduate of over 20 courses in Special Operations, Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Insurgency, Intelligence, Special Operations Tactics and Survival Proficiencies and is fluent in both Arabic and Russian languages.

Dave has worked extensively with many Foreign Special Operations Forces in varied capacities. While serving as OIC Night Committee Special Operations Training Course, Dave has worked hand in hand with many of this country's best SWAT, Special Reaction and Hostage Rescue Teams. Currently Dave's work is closely involved with Counter-Terrorist Operations on an international level, to include direct training of and coordination with foreign agencies.


 

Charles S. McDonald
(Charlie)

Charlie is a Lieutenant with the Henderson Co. Sheriff's Dept. in North Carolina where he has served since 1984. During his career he has worked in many aspects of Law Enforcement, with the majority of his time in Counter Narcotics and SWAT. Since beginning his tactical career as his S.E.R.T. Team's "primary sniper", Charlie has accrued over 1000 hrs of tactical training and over 300 hrs of Law Enforcement Sniper training.

Charlie also has over 1000 hrs of SWAT operational experience including Armed Fugitive Manhunts, High Risk Raids and Warrant Services, Armed Barricaded Suspects, Drug Suppression Operations and Dignitary Protection. Charlie served as S.E.R.T. Team leader for 2 1/2 years prior to his current position as Firearms and Special Tactics Instructor.

Charlie is currently an Instructor with the United States Department of State, Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program teaching Counter-Terrorism Crisis Response Team courses to Foreign Law Enforcement and Special Military Units.

Charlie is a North Carolina Certified Instructor who teaches officers and basic academy students in drug enforcement techniques and special tactics. He also trains officers in the Sub-Machine-gun, Police Carbine, and Law Enforcement Sniping.


 

Randy Stepp

Randy is currently a Sergeant with the Henderson County Sheriff's Department, North Carolina, and has 28 years of continual service. Randy is responsible for the supervision and training of the Canine Officers and the Canines of the Department.

Randy has served on the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team, S.E.R.T., for seventeen years and has held the positions of Team Leader and Field Operations Officer.

One of Randy's specialties is the art of Mantracking; he received his training from Ab Taylor who had thirty-six years with the United States Border Patrol. Randy has been teaching Mantracking for over eighteen years to Law Enforcement, SWAT Teams and Search/Rescue personnel. The techniques that he has taught, as well as personally utilized, have proven to be true not only in theory but in practical application, as a SWAT Team Leader and Law Enforcement Officer. These specific techniques have lead to successful apprehension of numerous fleeing felons and Superior Court convictions


 

Charlie Pirtle

 

Charlie is a veteran of the US Army, where he served as an Infantry ski trooper in Alaska.

Charlie retired from a 25 year career in the United States Border Patrol where he was a member of the Border Patrol National Pistol Team for his entire career. Charlie is a certified pistol/rifle instructor.

Since his retirement, Charlie has taught Tracking and Signcutting to Search and Rescue groups and Law Enforcement agencies throughout the United States, and has been an instructor for the United States Department of State, Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program, Rural Border Patrol, since that program began at Socorro, New Mexico in 1998.


 

Darrell E. Brown

With over thirty years military and law enforcement experience Darrell has been associated with developing programs and or providing instruction and expertise in special operations to officers of over 24 countries as well as to federal, state and local agencies.

Twenty two of those years he spent with the United States Border Patrol, retiring in 2000 as a Special Agent/Anti-Smuggling Unit. He was a member of the U.S. Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) from its inception in 1984 until his retirement and is a U.S. Marine Viet Nam veteran.

Since 1998 Darrell has been affiliated with the United States Department of State Anti-Terrorism Training Assistance Program as a core instructor/subject matter expert for the Rural Border Patrol Operations as well as an adjunct instructor for Advanced Crisis and Crisis Response Team Program. In addition, he has provided expertise and training to United States Department of State, Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement, as well as the Department of Justice International Criminal Investigators Training Assistance Program and the New Iraqi Army Recruiting Program and other federal programs (OCONUS).


 

Lawrence A. Jordan
(Larry)

Larry retired from active duty after completing a twenty-four year career with the United States Army Rangers and the United States Army Special Forces, Green Berets. Larry's career in Special Operations included tours of duty in Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans, i.e. Croatia and Bosnia. Larry has served on numerous Dignitary/VIP Protection details, both in the United States and overseas.

Larry is the graduate of more than 20 Special Operations and Intelligence schools, his specialties include: the full range of Special Operations, Urban and Rural Operations, Small Unit Tactics, Close-Quarters Battle (CQB), Close-Quarters Combat (CQC), and Dignitary/VIP Protection. Larry has instructed thousands of United States Military, Foreign Military and United States Law Enforcement personnel in Military and civilian Law Enforcement subjects.

Larry is also responsible for developing and implementing the first Dignitary/VIP Protection for Law Enforcement for the State of North Carolina, at the North Carolina Justice Academy.

In addition to his Military and Law Enforcement skills listed, Larry is a Master-Level Instructor of Martial Arts and Hand-to-Hand Combat (CQB), he has been inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame (Jiu Jitsu, and Hand-to-Hand Combat). Currently, Larry is a licensed Private Investigator, Security Consultant and Tactical Trainer in North Carolina.
